What can I do for you?

• Building a Website

I really believe that every artist and small business should have at least a minimal online presence.  You don’t have to sell anything online or have fancy bells and whistles, but a place online that tells people who you are, what you do and how to contact you is, in my opinion, as standard today as being listed in the phone book was 20 years ago.  I honestly can’t tell you the last time I looked in a phone book — for anything — and I know I am not alone in that.

I have experience building and maintaining websites.  I am able to use tools like DreamWeaver and other similar software to create or update websites.

I have found that there are many tools, like WordPress, that allow for sites to be built and maintained online without having to worry about finding server space or learning any special web language.  You are looking at a WordPress site right now.

I can help you figure out which tool is right for you and teach you some basics for using those tools so that you are not always dependent on someone like me.  I can get you up and running quickly and help you make a plan for your long-term use of the internet.

• Copy Writing, Copy Editing, Proofreading

I have experience writing and editing copy for websites as well as other print media.  I have experience proofreading books, manuals, short stories and other print media. 

• Social Media

Social Media is all the rage.  It is a great way to connect with people both personally and professionally.  Musicians and writers have really led the way in using these tools to take control of the way people access their work.  I use social media and I love it!

That said…

Social Media can be difficult to manage.  It can be time-consuming. The payoff for the investment can be long in coming.  I can help you think through your use of social media and help you to set up connections between your sites and outlets so that you are able to spend your time doing what you love without getting sucked into hours of posting OR missing out completely on the fun and benefit of social media tools.

• Building Online Courses

I have spent the majority of the past decade working within the instructional technology world at the University of Minnesota.  During this time I have helped to set up and train instructors in the use of online course tools.  I am familiar with both tools and theory used in technology enhanced learning.

I can help you to find ways to use any online tool to provide instruction or I can help you to set up a course using a tool like Moodle, specifically designed for online instruction.

• Tutoring

I enjoy teaching technology.  I especially enjoy helping people who do not feel comfortable with technology explore this toolbox.  If you need help learning to use PowerPoint or Photoshop or even help learning to manage your email or your Facebook account I can spend time with you, learning what your specific way of interacting with technology is and presenting learning solutions that will work for you.

• Clerical Work

I am available to help with general clerical work including word processing, data entry customer service.
